Corendon becomes “CorenDick” for a day to honor Curaçao’s historic World Cup qualification and coaching duo

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao’s national football team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time in history, and main sponsor Corendon is celebrating in a unique way. For one day, the company has changed its name to “CorenDick” — a tribute to head coach Dick Advocaat and assistant coach Cor Pot, who guided the team to its historic achievement.

In a statement, CorenDick said it was “overwhelmed with pride” after the dramatic 0–0 draw against Jamaica that sealed Curaçao’s place at the 2026 World Cup.

Looking ahead to the group stage

Curaçao will now prepare for the tournament, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. The draw for the group stage will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, when Curaçao will learn its World Cup opponents.

“Epic and spectacular,” says owner Atilay Uslu

CorenDick owner Atilay Uslu, who was present in Kingston for the decisive match, described the achievement in emotional terms:

“I almost have no words for it. It’s epic — truly spectacular what these boys have achieved. Goosebumps. The Blue Wave has done something that the entire island, and supporters worldwide, barely dared to dream of. I am incredibly proud that we began this journey together and that we, as CorenDick, have been able to stand behind this phenomenal team.”

The sponsor says it is now eagerly counting down to the World Cup group draw and looking forward to supporting Curaçao on the world stage.
