Cooper supports Schotte in CMC location preference

Local | By Correspondent March 12, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Traffic, Transport, and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper (MFK) indicated on Monday during the hearings of the parliamentary inquiry committee for Hospital Nobo Otrobanda (HNO) that he supports former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte's (MFK) preference regarding the location of the new hospital. Like Schotte, Cooper mentioned that he favored the Amstel site.

Cooper stated that he does not feel responsible for the escalated costs associated with the other location (the current hospital location). He affirmed this sentiment, saying, "And now we're stuck with the consequences."

In addition to Cooper, Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas (MFK), former Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath (PAR), and former Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha (MAN) were also questioned. Tomorrow, three former parliamentarians are again on the schedule, namely former Minister of Health, Environment, and Nature Susanne Camelia Römer (PIN), jurist Donald de Palm, and lawyer Chester Peterson.
