WILLEMSTAD – A construction scaffold at The View Resort & Marina, part of an ongoing residential tower project, collapsed by 3.5 meters during the night between Wednesday and Thursday. The incident occurred during the construction holiday, and fortunately, no workers were present, so there were no injuries.
According to Adam Kiolle, director of GMFB Real Estate and spokesperson for the project developer Royal Holding Company II BV, initial investigations suggest that the collapse was caused by mistakes made by the previous scaffold builder. "It seems that outdated scaffold pipes and incorrect construction methods are the cause," Kiolle said in an interview with local media.
Kiolle reassured that other scaffolding on the site is safe. "The new scaffold builder is using only new materials. Fortunately, we parted ways with the old supplier in time," he added.
When asked about responsibility for scaffold safety, Kiolle explained, "This specialized work is fully outsourced to external parties. Our own staff does not make any modifications to the construction."
