WILLEMSTAD - The construction of a new theater for Curaçao will not begin in the near future. This was stated by Sidney "Bicho" Justiana, the chairman of the Schouwburg Curaçao Foundation. According to him, the foundation must first address internal matters before demolition of Sentro Pro Arte can begin. Only after that will a decision be made regarding the location and design of the new theater. Justiana confirmed that no decision has been made yet.
The chairman is aware of the plans by opera singer Tania Kross, who sees the old post office in Punda as the most suitable location for a theater district. However, Justiana mentioned that the government also has plans to relocate the Ministry of Governance, Planning, and Public Services to that site. The Sentro Pro Arte location is one of the potential options being considered.
