WILLEMSTAD - Minister Dorothy Pietersz-Janga of Health, Environment and Nature had a meeting with the waste management company Selikor recently about payment of the second tranche. There is still uncertainty about the tranches and the requirements that Selikor must meet.
The minister indicated that during the meeting they did not go into details about the funds owed to the waste company. There has been talk of the tranches and the documents that still have to be delivered.
The government has drawn up requirements that Selikor must meet to receive support. In the meeting, the minister discussed all points to provide clarity. In addition, it was examined which points could be completed, so that Selikor can receive the second tranche of financial support. The point "management agreement" also emerged during that meeting.
According to Selikor director Wesley Kook, the management agreement says that Selikor receives an advance every month to perform work. Kook says that the government has been in default for years.
Kook says that the payment of the second tranche is delayed to the waste processing company. He mentions the reason that the Ministries of Finance and Health are slow in checking all the data that Selikor has provided.
Pietersz - Janga has indicated that she wants to work together with Selikor to reach an agreement in the first half of 2023.
