Local | By Correspondent April 17, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Bureau of Telecommunications and Post (BT&P) has delivered its audited annual report for 2022 to the Minister responsible for Traffic, Transport, and Urban Planning, Mr. Charles Cooper. The Director and Board of Supervision of the BT&P have fulfilled their duty to report in accordance with the regulations of the Ordinance containing the rules for the Bureau of Telecommunications & Post (P.B. 2006, no.69.). For the seventh consecutive year, the BT&P has complied with the ordinance and delivered its report on time, as is customary for the BT&P. The BT&P makes every effort to deliver its audited annual report in accordance with the law, to encourage those under its regulation to also comply with the timely submission of their annual reports.

The report on 2022 provides a clear overview of the work carried out in accordance with the authority of the BT&P, the development of the organization, and a general view of the regulatory work carried out in the past year. There are several interesting developments highlighted in the 2022 annual report. One example is the BT&P's ambition to serve as a leader in the community's efforts to reduce the CO2 emissions. The BT&P conducted a study to see how the organization can actively contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. The Director and employees have begun working on concrete actions to reduce CO2 emissions around the BT&P by 50%. “If each of us contributes, together we can contribute to one of the United Nations' goals to ensure sustainable development of humanity.”

In this year and the future, the BT&P will continue to focus on what is called ESG, which includes environmental, social, and governance aspects. The social aspect regards the BT&P's task of ensuring access to services or products for the community. In order to achieve this, the BT&P's aim is to continuously create a balance between the needs of both society and the provider. Finally, it is worth mentioning that good governance means, above all, that the BT&P complies with the current laws.
