WILLEMSTAD - A 58-year-old American cruise ship passenger was urgently evacuated last night due to severe internal bleeding. The ship was near Bonaire when the Coast Guard was called in to provide medical assistance.
The Coast Guard's Maritime Operations Center received the distress call and immediately consulted with a physician from CITRO. After evaluation, the doctor determined that an immediate evacuation was necessary. A Coast Guard helicopter was dispatched to transport the patient to Hato Airport on Curaçao.
Upon arrival, an ambulance was waiting to transfer the man to the Curaçao Medical Center for further treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the passenger's current condition but emphasized the swift response as critical in providing life-saving care.
