Local | By Correspondent April 29, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - In a nighttime operation, the Curaçao Coast Guard seized a significant quantity of cocaine. During the action, which took place early this morning, the crew of the Cutter 'Jaguar' discovered a suspicious 'yola' boat northeast of the island. On board were three undocumented Venezuelan men and approximately 170 kilograms of cocaine.

The Maritime Operations Center had dispatched the crew of the 'Jaguar' after receiving reports of suspicious activities at sea. Upon arrival, the Coast Guard not only found the three men but also several packages later identified as cocaine.

The suspects have been handed over to the Curaçao Police Force for further investigation and legal proceedings. The seized drugs have been destroyed according to established procedures.
