WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday afternoon, the Coast Guard spotted a suspicious contact near Piscadera Bay. Upon detection, the Coast Guard's Maritime Operations Center immediately directed a Metal Shark patrol boat to the suspected vessel.

Upon arrival of the patrol boat near Piscadera Bay, the patrol boat escorted the vessel to the coastguard jetty. When they arrived at the jetty, the coastguards examined the boat together with customs. More than 550 kilos of cocaine were found on board the local fishing boat. The drugs and the two men, one from Curaçao and one from Bonaire, have been handed over to the Curaçao Police Force. The drugs have since been destroyed.
