WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard intercepted a vessel carrying drugs, weapons, and ammunition near Curaçao on Sunday evening.

The Maritime Operations Center of the Coast Guard detected suspicious activity at sea and immediately dispatched a Metal Shark patrol boat to investigate. A Coast Guard aircraft was also deployed to assess the situation.

Upon arrival, the aircraft crew observed a suspicious vessel heading toward Curaçao. The patrol boat intercepted the vessel and escorted it to the Coast Guard dock for a thorough inspection.

During the search, authorities discovered over 25 kilograms of cocaine, along with three firearms and ammunition. The Venezuelan man aboard the vessel was handed over to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) along with the confiscated drugs, weapons, and ammunition. The drugs have since been destroyed.
