WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard intercepted 245 kilos of cocaine from a local fishing boat near the coast on Sunday morning, as announced by the Caribbean Coast Guard.
The Maritime Operations Center noticed the boat behaving suspiciously, prompting the decision to send a Metal Shark vessel to the boat, along with a helicopter. Two men were on board.
Both the occupants and the boat were taken to the Coast Guard pier at the Parera naval base for a thorough inspection. During the search, conducted by Coast Guard and Customs agents, the drugs were discovered.
The two men, along with the narcotics, were handed over to the police. All the drugs have since been destroyed.
