WILLEMSTAD – On Friday, an inspection took place on a boat transporting cargo to offshore ships. This service is offered to ships that do not enter the port of Curaçao but make purchases and receive their orders via this boat.
Conversely, small boats also deliver goods to Curaçao, which they have picked up from a large Venezuelan boat at sea.
After this ship returned from delivering the export cargo to the offshore vessel, the Coast Guard personnel, who were already waiting for the boat, conducted a thorough inspection. They were assisted by a helicopter flying nearby while the boat underwent inspection.
Authorities may have expected smuggling, but no statements were made about it. All indications suggest that everything was in order, and the boat was allowed to depart afterward.
