WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday evening, the Coast Guard received a report for a medical evacuation of a woman on a cruise ship southeast of Bonaire. The report concerned an 81-year-old woman who had suffered a stroke and urgently needed assistance from the coast guard helicopter to transport her to a hospital.
After consulting with the CITRO doctor and evaluating with the medical team on board the ship, the Maritime Operations Center of the Coast Guard directed the helicopter to the ship to pick up the woman. She was then flown to Hato, where an ambulance was ready to take her to the hospital. The Coast Guard wishes the woman a speedy recovery.
