WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday morning, the Coast Guard received an emergency call for a medical evacuation of a man aboard a cruise ship located east of Bonaire. The man, aged 66, had suffered a heart attack and urgently required transport to a hospital.
After consulting with a CITRO physician and assessing the situation with the ship's medical team, the Coast Guard’s Maritime Operations Center dispatched a helicopter to evacuate the man. The helicopter arrived at the cruise ship, where the medical team onboard facilitated the evacuation process. Once on board the helicopter, the man was flown to Hato Airport, where an ambulance awaited to take him to the hospital.
The Coast Guard extended their best wishes for the man’s swift recovery.
