Coast Guard Helicopter Evacuates Man from Passenger Vessel Near Bonaire

WILLEMSTAD – On Tuesday morning, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Caribbean Coast Guard received a report that a passenger vessel sailing near Bonaire was urgently requesting assistance for a passenger in medical distress.

The passenger concerned was a 37-year-old man of German nationality who had suffered a heart attack. Upon receiving the alert, MOC personnel immediately contacted a CITRO physician to assess the situation. Based on the medical evaluation, the physician advised that the patient be evacuated without delay and transported to a hospital for urgent medical treatment.

A Coast Guard helicopter was deployed immediately. The patient was safely evacuated from the vessel and transferred to waiting ambulance personnel, who took over further medical care.

The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of rapid coordination between maritime services and medical professionals in ensuring timely assistance during medical emergencies at sea.
