Coast Guard helicopter conducts two medical evacuations from Klein Curaçao

Local | By Press release August 9, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Yesterday afternoon, the Coast Guard's Maritime Operations Center (MOC) was alerted to an emergency on Klein Curaçao. A man had suffered a severe allergic reaction after eating a meal on the island. The MOC immediately consulted with a CITRO doctor, who advised that the man be transported to the hospital as quickly as possible for medical treatment. The Coast Guard promptly dispatched their helicopter to Klein Curaçao to evacuate the man. He was flown to Hato Airport, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital.

Later that day, the Coast Guard received another call from Klein Curaçao. This time, a young man had broken his left collarbone and was in significant pain. Following the CITRO doctor’s recommendation, the Coast Guard helicopter was sent back to the island to evacuate the injured man and transport him to the hospital for medical care.
