Coast Guard Continues Monitoring After Boat Accident Between Venezuela and Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard searched until sunset on Wednesday for missing persons following a boat accident between Venezuela and Curaçao. The search, which covered the waters between Curaçao and Aruba as well as Aruba’s coastline, yielded no new results, the Coast Guard reported in a press release.

Earlier, ten people were rescued from the sea, but survivors indicated that others remain missing. Tragically, one woman died after being pulled from the water. Following an evaluation, authorities have decided to transition to a passive search operation.

The Coast Guard stated that it will continue to monitor the situation during routine patrols and has urged maritime traffic in the region to remain vigilant and report any sightings.
