Coast Guard Conducts Medical Evacuation on Klein Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - On Tuesday morning, October 21, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard received an emergency call from a commercial vessel near Klein Curaçao. On board was an 80-year-old American tourist suffering from chest pain and breathing difficulties.

After consultation with a doctor from CITRO (Curaçao International Trust Rescue Organization), it was determined that the man required immediate medical attention. The Coast Guard quickly deployed a helicopter to evacuate the patient from the vessel and transport him to Hato Airport on Curaçao.

Upon arrival, ambulance personnel were on standby and immediately transferred the patient to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for further medical treatment.

The Coast Guard extended its best wishes for the man’s recovery, emphasizing its continued commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors in Caribbean waters.
