WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is warning people about extra incidents around the holidays. The hospital is already experiencing increased activity in the emergency room, which is a recurring issue leading up to the end of the year.
The CMC urges people to prioritize safety at all times during the Christmas and New Year's holidays. It has been observed that people tend to be more relaxed, for example, in traffic and in ensuring their own safety, putting significant pressure on the emergency room.
In response, the hospital in Otrobanda provides some advice, namely to remain alert at all times. This is emphasized during activities such as cooking, decorating the house, or participating in outdoor activities. It is also noted that people may be less precise in taking their medications during the holidays, which can lead to health issues.
Additionally, the CMC addresses alcohol use behind the wheel and advises always having someone available as a designated driver.
