CMC to discharge 'costly' hospital guest

WILLEMSTAD - Today, the undocumented and uninsured patient who has been residing at CMC for over a year will be discharged from the hospital. The woman is being transferred to Betèsda nursing home, confirmed Minister Silvania. This individual has effectively resided at CMC for 447 days, with costs totaling over 700,000 guilders.

To prevent Betèsda from being burdened with debts, the Ministry of Health will cover the nursing care costs on humanitarian grounds. Additionally, the Ministries of Public Health (GMN), Labor and Social Development (Soaw), and Justice will formulate policies for undocumented individuals in need of medical care to prevent such unwanted situations from recurring.
