'CMC specialists must fall outside the Standardization of Top Incomes'

Local | By Correspondent February 15, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Medical specialists of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) must be exempted from the National Ordinance Standardization Top Incomes. This is according to the Association of National Medical Professionals in Employment Curaçao.

The association has sent a letter about this to Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga. As a result of the standardization, a shortage of specialists could arise, which could jeopardize healthcare.

Treatments could no longer be carried out locally due to a lack of staff, which causes delays. This could cause more people to die.

Due to the standardization, salaries of these doctors would decrease by up to 50 percent. This while in the Netherlands, Aruba and Sint Maarten there is an exception to the Standardization Top Incomes for medical specialists.
