CMC limited visiting hours, only one contact person

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will limit visiting hours due to the increasing number of corona infections on the island. From Friday 14 January, only one person, who is also the main contact person, is allowed to visit daily between 5 and 7 pm.

The hospital is under great pressure due to a staff shortage and the maximum capacity in the intensive care unit. Nearly two hundred healthcare workers are absent due to Covid-19, absenteeism or quarantine. The number of active corona cases on Curaçao is rising towards 10,000. On Wednesday, 1,107 new infections were reported, a record number.

Only one person may be designated to visit the patient on a daily basis.

The CMC emphasizes that all visitors must be symptom-free. A face mask must also be worn and no visitors who have been in contact with someone infected with Covid-19 in the past fourteen days are allowed to enter. Visiting corona patients is only possible to a limited extent.
