CMC is facing a shortage of personnel

Local | By Correspondent January 13, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is facing a shortage of personnel. Last year there were 108 vacancies that could not be filled. 81 because of the shortage in the labor market. There was, and is, no money for 27 vacancies.

The shortage is hospital-wide. From specialist nurses for the dialysis department to doctors and nurses for emergency care and intensive care, and cardiac monitoring.

CMC tries to overcome the shortage partly through training. Last year, forty nurses were trained, this year there are thirty. But training alone will not solve the situation.
