WILLEMSTAD – The Pediatric Department at Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has introduced a first for the island with the arrival of the "Infuuts," a specially designed tricycle that allows children receiving intravenous (IV) treatment to remain active while connected to their medical equipment.
The innovative tricycle is equipped with a mount for an IV pole, enabling young patients to safely ride around the pediatric ward without interrupting their treatment. The initiative is designed to encourage movement, reduce stress and make hospital stays more enjoyable for children.
In addition to the new tricycle, CMC also unveiled an interactive mural titled "Pedro's Airport Adventure," along with new toys for the pediatric department. The colorful artwork is intended to create a more welcoming and engaging environment for children undergoing medical care.
The project was initiated by the Ronald McDonald House Curaçao Foundation and made possible through sponsorship from Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) and Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH).
The organizations behind the initiative hope that combining physical activity, play and cheerful artwork will help ease the anxiety often associated with hospitalization while contributing to the recovery and emotional well-being of young patients.
CMC said the additions reflect its ongoing commitment to creating a child-friendly healthcare environment that supports not only medical treatment but also the overall well-being of children and their families during their stay at the hospital.
