CMC does not want to speak to Minister Silvania in the hospital

Local | By Correspondent April 24, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - According to director Gilbert Martina, the management of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has requested Minister Javier Silvania not to hold a press conference in the hospital this Monday, citing the hospital's inappropriateness for such activities.

The temporary Minister of Health had stated on social media that he would meet with the hospital's board this Monday and had invited the Inspection and hospital staff as well.

Although the Board of Directors is willing to meet with the minister, the director objects to holding a meeting in a building where research is conducted, and patients are treated.

Part of the operating room staff is not satisfied with the changes in the organization's structure and organogram. According to the board, this is a change process that has been going on for over a year.

On April 14, the operating room management team gave a presentation to the operating room staff, based on which some operating room staff members contacted the CBV union.

This issue highlights the ongoing challenges in the healthcare sector in Curaçao, which has been grappling with staffing shortages, a lack of resources, and other issues for some time. It remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved and what the impact will be on the delivery of healthcare services to the people of Curaçao.
