WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is considering recruiting medical specialists from the region, according to the hospital's management. This information was shared with the Inspectorate of Public Health (IVG).
The hospital discussed its plans with Inspector General Sirving Keli. The CMC intends to approach one of the major organizations for insurers and healthcare providers in Colombia. The aim is to address the current shortage of medical specialists. The specific organization has not been disclosed by the CMC.
The recruitment plans are part of the CMC's action plan, which the hospital was required to develop based on the instructions from the IVG.
The CMC also informed Keli that they already collaborate with Dutch specialists. For instance, the Erasmus University Medical Center regularly lends medical personnel to the CMC to ensure the continuity of care. The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) will partially reimburse these costs.
The CMC had until July 7th to submit an action plan outlining short-term solutions. Keli previously stated that the hospital had such a plan. It appears that recruiting medical personnel from Colombia and the Netherlands is part of that plan.
