WILLEMSTAD - Now the day is approaching for schools to reopen after a refreshing long vacation for our children and educators. Every child and young person, regardless of age, feels much happier when they have a new uniform, new schoolbag, and everything for school is new. Naturally, if the school and neighborhood are also clean, it is much more enjoyable for the children, teachers, and school staff.

Curaçao Lions Club organized a clean-up action in the Koraal Specht neighborhood, around the foundational schools Marieta Alberto, Adventschool, Frater Evoniusschool, and Schotborgschool. The service club expresses gratitude to Selikor for their tremendous cooperation. The area was quite messy; we really couldn't let the children start their new school year in that situation. Even during the days when the CLC was cleaning the area, you could see new litter accumulating the next day, right where it had been cleaned the day before. These are very unfortunate situations in these neighborhoods here in Curaçao.
Curaçao Lions Club thanks everyone who contributed, and we hold on to the hope that the residents of the neighborhood can help keep their area clean, especially around the schools, so that children can learn in a cleaner and more pleasant environment.
