WILLEMSTAD - All users of both the Malpais landfill and the Koraal Specht transfer station can dispose of their waste for free over a two-month period. Selikor has clarified the conditions of the free disposal initiative through a press release after significant confusion arose among employees and residents.
Selikor employees became confused due to uncertainty about the conditions. Frensley Sillé, chairman of the BTG union, stated that Finance Minister Javier Silvania had announced on two radio stations that only heavy machinery, such as large trucks, could dump waste for free. However, the minister's Facebook page indicated that everyone could dump waste for free.
Now that it is clear that everyone can dispose of their waste for free for two months, employees have returned to work.
The opening hours for the Malpais landfill are from Monday to Sunday, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Koraal Specht transfer station is open from Monday to Sunday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. These hours will remain in effect until further notice.
