WILLEMSTAD - On Friday, Governor Lucille George-Wout made seven CITRO volunteers happy on behalf of King Willem-Alexander with the Volunteer Medal 'Public Order and Safety'. The medals were handed out during an official ceremony at Fort Amsterdam.
The Volunteer Medal is awarded to people who have performed repressive service tasks in the field of public order and safety for ten consecutive years. In addition, three volunteers were honored with a year sign. To be eligible for a year sign, a person must have been a volunteer for fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five, or forty years.
One of the volunteers was awarded a year signal for fifteen years of volunteer work and two others for twenty and 25 years of service at CITRO.
