WILLEMSTAD - A crowd of very enthusiastic walkers were united in a noble cause, as the cheerfully covered the six kilometers of the 2019 CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure of last Saturday through the streets of Willemstad.
The Walk, now in its eighth year, covered the traditional route passing through the streets of Punda, Pietermaai and Steenrijk, starting and finishing in the parking lot of CIBC FirstCaribbean at De Ruyterkade # 61.
The CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure, is held in the 17 territories where the bank operates and sees thousands of walkers hitting the streets in a unified demonstration of their commitment to assist those affected by cancer.
All proceeds raised through this regional effort goes to supporting critical cancer care services, purchase vital equipment necessary to treat patients and to host general education programs to create greater awareness of the disease across the region. In Curaçao, the proceeds for the CIBC FirstCaribbean Walk for the Cure, Golf for the Cure and other related fundraising activities, will be donated to Stichting Princes Wilhelmina Fonds. Over the last 7 years, the fundraising activities have raised and donated over ANG 165.000,-
The bank expressed its appreciation for the generous support by the corporate sponsors who came on board to support the walk this year, and the different companies and persons that participated in the fundraisers hosted by the Walk for the Cure Committee. CIBC FirstCaribbean would like to thank AD, Always, Amigoe, Extra, Hyundai, LBH Group, NuCuraçao Windparken B.V. and Tampax for their support to this year’s Walk in addition to Gillette, BMW, Nissan, Jeep, Divi Divi Air, Amigoe, Extra who supported this year’s Golf for the Cure.

“Cancer is a major concern and any one of us or our relatives can be affected at any time. Persons living with cancer need all the support they can get. We are glad to again this year contribute in a meaningful way to the valuable work done by the Princess Wilhelmina Fonds,”she added.
