Chippie Delivers Fastest Mobile Internet, Digicel+ Leads Fixed Broadband in Curaçao, New Ookla Report Shows

WILLEMSTAD - Internet users in Curaçao enjoy the fastest mobile speeds through Chippie and the fastest fixed broadband connections via Digicel+. That is the conclusion of the Speedtest Connectivity Report H1 2025 published by research firm Ookla, based on thousands of internet speed tests conducted across the island.

Chippie Tops Mobile Internet Performance

According to the report, Chippie recorded the highest average mobile internet speeds during the first half of 2025. Mobile users on the network could typically expect download speeds of around 39 Mbps and upload speeds of roughly 16 Mbps.

Digicel+ Leads in Fixed Broadband

For fixed internet connections — the cable-based services used at home and in offices — Digicel+ outperformed all other providers. Customers enjoyed average download speeds of approximately 86 Mbps and average upload speeds of 47 Mbps.

Ookla also evaluated network “latency,” the time it takes for a signal to travel to a server and back. Lower latency means a more responsive network, essential for online gaming and video calls. Chippie scored an average latency of 34 milliseconds, while Digicel+ averaged 41 milliseconds.

Speed Doesn’t Always Mean Stability

On other performance measures, such as connection stability for uninterrupted video streaming, Ookla found no clear winner. That means even high-speed connections do not always guarantee consistent reliability.

The findings offer valuable insights for both telecom operators and the government as they evaluate current network performance and plan future investments in Curaçao’s digital infrastructure.
