WILLEMSTAD – The Committee for Financial Supervision Curaçao and Sint Maarten (Cft) has called on the government of Curaçao to correct how a recent AOV lump sum payment is recorded in the national budget.
According to the supervisory board, the first tranche of the payment—amounting to approximately 34 million guilders—was distributed in January 2026. However, part of the payment was reportedly charged to the 2025 budget.
The Cft says this accounting method is incorrect, as expenses must be recorded in the fiscal year to which they apply.
The board has therefore asked Curaçao to correct the accounting treatment in a formal budget amendment that must be submitted later this year.
