THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The Council of Ministers of the Kingdom is now stuck with an advice from the Committee on Financial Supervision (CFT). It states that Curaçao may not borrow money because no balanced budget was presented in the fourth quarter of 2019.
Curaçao had just received the green light to borrow money for investments due to the Growth Strategy, which the Netherlands is committed to. This agreement had one requirement, which is that the CFT would also give the green light. That is now no longer the case.
