WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao is organizing a special ceremony on Monday morning for the first two small boats carrying vegetables and fruit from Venezuela. The arrival of the boats is part of the recent reopening of the maritime border between the two countries on April 3.
After more than four years, Curaçao is once again receiving vegetables, fruit, and fish from Venezuela. Wholesale ships will also arrive in due course.
The boats will enter the Curaçao port on Monday around 7:30 am under the guidance of the Coast Guard. The ceremony will take place at the Queen Wilhelmina Bridge, also known as Brug na Skalo in the Punda area.
According to the government, the process of opening the maritime border in a controlled manner and in phases requires significant time and attention due to regulations.
