WILLEMSTAD – The Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) is warning the public about fraudulent videos circulating on social media, in which fake investment opportunities are being offered under the bank's name.
One of the videos features CBCS President Richard Doornbosch, manipulated using deepfake technology. In the video, Doornbosch allegedly promotes an investment opportunity claiming that a deposit of 450 guilders would yield a return of 10,500 guilders.
The CBCS has made it clear that the videos are false and misleading, stressing that the bank does not offer direct investment products to the public.
The bank urges the public to rely only on official CBCS channels for information and warns against the risks associated with unverified content on social media.
