Centenarian milestone: Cira Fabian celebrates 100 years

Local | By Press release August 9, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao is celebrating the remarkable milestone of Cira Fabian, who has reached the age of 100. Known for her calm, direct, and punctual nature, Cira has lived a full and vibrant life, despite not having children. She enjoys sewing, knitting, crocheting, and has a love for dancing.

Her favorite dish is fish, prepared in various ways.

Thirty years ago, Cira made the decision to move into the Habaai care home, where she quickly became an integral part of the community. She has contributed to the home by helping with orders, working in the kitchen, and assisting with cleaning.

In a recent photo, Cira is seen alongside the three department heads she has worked with over the years. From right to left, the photo features Mrs. Ethlyne Ortela, the current head, Mrs. Eyda Albertus, the previous head, and the first head of the department, Mrs. Jennifer Engelhardt.

Longevity runs in Cira’s family—her aunt lived to be 112 years old, and her father passed away at the age of 97.

The entire care home community cherishes Cira and cares for her as if she were their own mother, celebrating her incredible journey and her century of life.
