WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) is warning the public about messages circulating via WhatsApp in which residents are being alerted about individuals posing as CBS employees or official surveyors. According to reports, these individuals are going door to door, claiming to be conducting a census or other type of survey on behalf of CBS.
CBS emphasizes that there are currently legitimate CBS surveyors collecting data for the 2025 Social Survey. However, the bureau stresses that all official CBS staff can be clearly identified.
For every authorized survey, CBS employees must:
Present an official CBS badge displaying their name and photo, signed by the CBS Director.
Often wear a vest or carry other documentation featuring the official CBS logo.
CBS Urges Public to Stay Alert
CBS advises residents to remain cautious:
Do not share any personal information with anyone claiming to be from CBS unless they can show official identification.
Always request to see the CBS badge. Each badge contains a QR code that can be scanned to verify the surveyor’s identity.
If you have any doubts, contact CBS directly at 724-1802 or via WhatsApp at 520-2227 to confirm the employee’s credentials.
CBS also reminds the community that participation in official CBS surveys is mandatory by law, and therefore it is important to distinguish between legitimate CBS surveys and fraudulent activity to avoid abuse or confusion.
The bureau thanks the public for their cooperation and vigilance in helping to ensure the integrity and safety of official statistical research on Curaçao.
