CBS publishes consumer price indices from January to May 2022 on its website

WILLEMSTAD – The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has published consumer price indexes for the months January to May 2022 on its website today. The specific figures can be found at https://www.cbs.cw/inflationprices (Tables).  

 

Price development month January 2022 to April 2022 

 

The consumer price index (CPI) from January 2022 to April 2022 is partly imputed according to the recommended calculation method of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The adjusted calculation of the consumer price index for these months is as follows: January 2022 – 108.7; February 2022 – 109.6; March 2022 – 110.7; Apr 2022 – 111.9.  

 

Price development in the month of May 2022 compared to the previous month of April 2022 

 

Curaçao's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.7 percent in May 2022. Compared to the month of April 2022, it has developed from 111.9 in April to 112.7 in May. 

 

Inflation in a given month is calculated by comparing the 12-month average of the CPI in that month with the 12-month average of the CPI in the same month the previous year. Measured over the twelve-month period to May 2022, compared to the same period the year before, consumer prices rose by an average of 4.8 percent in May 2022: the 12-month average of the CPI has developed from 103, 6 in May 2021 to 108.5 in May 2022.
