WILLEMSTAD – The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) has announced new regulations for exchanging Netherlands Antillean guilders (ANG) for Caribbean guilders (CWG) at the bank. Both individuals and businesses without bank accounts can exchange money at the Central Bank, as well as those with damaged currency, according to a press release issued by the CBCS.
Individuals without a bank account and those with damaged money can exchange up to 2,500 guilders without an appointment. However, for higher amounts, a declaration of origin must be completed. Additionally, the exchange can only be conducted with cash, and deposits to bank accounts are not permitted.
The Central Bank emphasizes that it strictly follows anti-money laundering regulations and reserves the right to investigate suspicious transactions and hold funds if necessary.
