WILLEMSTAD - The Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) celebrated its 50th anniversary on Curaçao last weekend with a three-day conference held at the International School under the theme “A New Pentecost in Our Jubilee Year.”
The event drew large crowds for praise, worship, and inspiring lectures. Among the featured speakers were Pastor Morison, who spoke on “God Grants His Abundant Grace,” and Pastor Curtis Meris, who explored the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” Pastor Raul Mercedes presented a talk on “Remaining Spiritually Renewed,” while Sister Debora de Rosia discussed “Charismatic Gifts and the Mystery of Giving.”

New Spiritual Director Introduced
During the conference, Pastor Morison introduced Deacon Richard Colastica as the new spiritual director of the movement. Morison expressed his gratitude that Colastica accepted the role, noting that the appointment would allow him to focus on other important duties.
The conference also featured a healing session led by Leo Josepha, while the Ministry of Music provided live worship, joined by the group Song for Jesus on Sunday.
About the Charismatic Renewal
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal on Curaçao is a movement within the Roman Catholic Church that emphasizes the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. It is characterized by vibrant praise, prayer, and spiritual gifts, including singing, spontaneous prayer, healing, and personal faith experiences.
The movement is not a separate church, but rather a renewal within the Catholic community, aiming to strengthen personal spirituality and deepen fellowship among believers.
Joy and Celebration
True to its spirit, the conference placed joy and celebration at its center. During the Friday evening Mass, Pastor Morison encouraged the faithful to “stand up and praise God with joy and dance.”
Although Archbishop Gordon was unable to attend due to an unexpected funeral on Saturday, organizers described the jubilee event as a powerful and uplifting celebration of faith, renewal, and unity within Curaçao’s Catholic community.
