CASHA takes on Airbnb and Booking.com

Local | By Correspondent September 18, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Association of Accommodations and Car Rentals (CASHA) is challenging major booking platforms like Airbnb and Booking.com. At the end of September, the association will launch its own booking website, allowing tourists to book accommodations directly without the high commissions often charged by other platforms.

The new platform aims to give local entrepreneurs more control over their pricing and reservations while providing guests with a more transparent and cost-effective booking experience. In addition to booking accommodations, tourists will also be able to directly reserve rental cars, diving lessons, tours, and other activities through the website. This makes the new platform a comprehensive service point for tourists planning their stay in Curaçao.

Growth

The launch of the booking platform comes at a time when the tourism sector has had a strong summer. CASHA reported an occupancy rate of 85 percent for accommodations and 80 percent for car rentals in recent months. The association remains committed to further growth and is working with partners to enhance the experience for both entrepreneurs and tourists.
