WILLEMSTAD - The occupancy rate of the nine diving schools that are members of CASHA was 30 percent lower in February than in February of last year. The percentage of occupancy for the 43 accommodations and three car rental companies has increased. This was reported by the tourist organization in a press release.
According to CASHA, the main reason for the significant drop in diving schools is the presence of many individuals working illegally, offering their services to tourists. "This means they are working without permits and not paying taxes," said CASHA.
Together with the government and the Tax Accountants Foundation, they are working to address this issue, hoping that everyone offering services in the diving industry will operate fairly and within the bounds of the law.
CASHA reports that the number of individuals wanting to rent a car from one of the three affiliated car rental companies has increased compared to February of last year. The occupancy rate for this year is projected to be 90 percent for the three members.
