Local | By Correspondent February 13, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Carnival celebrations on Curaçao have now really started. The children's parade took place on Sunday. For the next week and a half, the island will be fully devoted to carnival.

After the horse parade last Sunday, it was now the children's turn. 16 groups walked in the most beautiful costumes and colors from the roundabout at Palu Blanku to Otrobanda.

The Teener Parade takes place on Friday. Various secondary schools and other groups then walk the carnival route. Saturday is the carnival parade at Banda Abou in and around the Barber area.

The largest carnival parade the 'Gran Marcha' takes place on Sunday. 25 groups and thus thousands of participants are participating again after two years of absence. The public will once again flock along Franklin D. Rooseveltweg, Weg naar Welgelegen, Roodeweg and Breedestraat

Monday 20 February the children say goodbye to the carnival and the adults do so on February 21 with the 'Marcha di Despedida'.
