Caribbean Military Conducts Traffic Control Drills in Curaçao Ahead of Holiday Season

WILLEMSTAD – Starting Wednesday, Caribbean military personnel will conduct traffic control exercises in several areas across Curaçao, including Otrobanda, Seru di Fortuna, and Marie Pampoen. The training is part of their preparations for the busy December holiday season, the Ministry of Defense confirmed.

The purpose of the drill is to enhance readiness for maintaining public order and safety during the festive period. As part of the exercise, military personnel will temporarily manage and redirect traffic at key intersections.

Troops will remain at each location for about 20 minutes before moving on to the next area. Some roads will be temporarily closed during the drills, with clear signage placed at each site indicating: “Military in Training.”

Defense officials stress that the exercises are routine training activities and not related to any specific threat. The drills are part of standard year-end preparedness efforts.

The Ministry of Defense and local authorities are calling on motorists and residents to cooperate and be patient with any short-term traffic disruptions caused by the exercises.
