WILLEMSTAD - As of March 31, the Caribbean Gulden (XCG) will be officially introduced as the legal currency by the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS). As a result, the Netherlands Antillean Gulden (ANG) will be phased out, starting on June 30.
From June 30 onwards, the ANG will no longer be accepted for cash payments.
However, a transition period will be in place: for the first year following the introduction of the XCG, ANG banknotes and coins can still be exchanged at commercial banks.
Additionally, it will be possible to exchange ANG banknotes and coins at the CBCS for up to thirty years after the introduction of the new currency.
