WILLEMSTAD - Caracasbaai is once again open to the public. Changes in sea currents have caused jellyfish floating in the sea to move in a different direction, practically clearing the bay of these marine animals. This was announced by the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN).
The beach was temporarily closed on Monday as a preventive measure after a man was stung by a jellyfish. On Wednesday morning, the Agricultural and Fisheries Management (AVB) inspected a large part of the sea at Caracasbaai and found no jellyfish other than the 'Spotwing Comb Jelly.' This type of jellyfish is not toxic or dangerous to humans.
Despite the beach being reopened and the jellyfish slowly leaving the bay, the ministry will continue to monitor the situation for the time being.
