WILLEMSTAD - The former open-air brothel Campo Alegre has become 'Campo Landfill', according to reporters from a morning newspaper.
The site is not closed and many people take this opportunity to dump their waste. It is still unknown what will happen to Campo. Last year, the auction of the site was postponed twice. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there would be no candidates who meet the conditions. No new date has yet been announced for the auction.
Campo Alegre was closed after 71 years at the start of the corona crisis. The open-air brothel had millions of debts outstanding and the corona measures gave the final blow.
