Campaign against illegal waste dumping

Local | By Correspondent July 24, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) is launching a campaign to inform the community about the consequences of illegal waste dumping and burning.

According to the ministry, the focus is on responsible environmental practices, such as reducing plastic usage and proper waste disposal. Illegal waste dumping and burning have reached alarming levels in recent months, impacting public health and natural resources.

The fire on Amerikaweg on Wednesday afternoon is also mentioned, where illegally dumped waste was once again set on fire. The amount of smoke released during waste burning can cause severe health issues, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory problems, according to GMN.

GMN promises to provide more information soon about environmental protection.
