WILLEMSTAD - The Hague is urging Dutch citizens and residents of Curaçao currently staying in Haiti to register via the information service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at https://informatieservice.nederlandwereldwijd.nl. This also applies to individuals with a valid residency permit for Curaçao.
If you have knowledge of residents currently in Haiti, please encourage them to register via the information service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and via email to: info.dbb@gobiernu.cw of the Directorate of Foreign Relations, where they can provide their name, phone numbers, and address details in Curaçao and in Haiti.
This way, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and/or the Directorate of Foreign Relations can keep them informed of developments and provide advice, for example, if there are opportunities to leave the country.
State of Emergency
A national state of emergency has been declared in Haiti due to ongoing gang violence in the country. A curfew has been imposed in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas.
Curaçao is monitoring the situation in Haiti and, as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is in close contact with the Embassy of the Kingdom in the Dominican Republic as well as with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Kingdom does not have an embassy in Haiti but has a Haitian Honorary Consul in Port-au-Prince.
The travel advice (https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/reisadvies/haiti) is not to travel to Haiti. Leave Haiti if it is safe to do so, advises the ministry.
