WILLEMSTAD - Bystanders prevented robbers from escaping with their loot from a jewelry store on Saturday. The incident occurred on Breedestraat in Punda. When the two robbers attempted to quickly escape on their motorcycle with their loot, a passerby knocked down the rear passenger of the motorcycle, causing both to fall.

The two men were swiftly apprehended by the arriving police. They have been identified as 33-year-old Colombian D.A.M.C. and 53-year-old W.F.A.S., born in the Dominican Republic.
The dramatic incident unfolded in broad daylight. A man wearing a black jacket had entered the Milano Diamond Gallery, armed with a weapon, and proceeded to smash several display cases. His accomplice waited outside with a running motorcycle, ready for a speedy getaway.
However, a bystander's intervention prevented their escape. Just as the motorcycle was about to depart, the bystander pulled the motorcycle's passenger. This action caused the driver to lose balance, and the motorcycle got wedged between a trash bin and a concrete post.

The passenger managed to flee with the loot but was arrested a few streets away in Hanchi Snoa with the stolen goods and taken to the police station.
The driver was subdued by the public and injured in the process. He was arrested and transported to the CMC hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.
The stolen loot was returned to the store owner, who had not only suffered material damage but also a great deal of shock. The scooter was seized, and both robbers were detained after being presented to the assistant prosecutor, pending further investigation.
The collective effort of the public played a crucial role in thwarting this audacious robbery, as captured in video footage.
